Our Story

The Orsini Gino – Damiani Filippo s.r.l. company was founded in 1968, in San Benedetto del Tronto, in the district of Porto d’Ascoli. The two founders, Gino Orsini and Filippo Damiani, intended to offer planning and coordination of fruit and vegetable farmers in the Marche region, an area of Italy well-suited to agricultural production.

The newly-established company’s on-going dedication to quality and innovation attracted the attention of leading Italian retail groups working all over the country.

The commitment required major investment, both for human and technological resources. To that end, the company began to employ highly-qualified staff, able to support producers at all stages of growing and harvesting.

Similarly, technical staff were engaged for the processing plant to ensure high standards at all stages, from storage of produce to processing and final dispatch.

In 1996, the company moved to new premises in Monteprandone (province of Ascoli Piceno), and in 2006 completed a major renovation project to optimize the plant, acquiring new buildings and cutting-edge machinery.
Currently, Orsini & Damiani operates in a covered area of approximately 8,000 square metres, suitable for receiving, processing and packaging produce in air-conditioned premises, complete with offices and service areas. There are also about 10,000 cubic metres of cold storage on hand.
Equipment includes modern sorting lines, electronic colour selection, weighing and labelling, as well as several manual processing lines for raw produce, about ten automated and manual pricing-by-weight systems, and four tray, punnet and flow-wrap packaging lines.

The company’s equipment is completed by an extensive series of product storage and movement devices,
as well as a number of trucks, including several refrigerated vehicles.

On 7 November 2011, Orsini & Damiani contracted Kores s.r.l., owned by Alessandra and Laura Damiani, daughters of co-founder Filippo,
to undertake produce processing, packaging and storage, with the aim of optimizing and specializing
not only marketing but also processing.

The company’s mission remains focused on providing quality products, obtained in respect of safety regulations observed at every stage of the process.

Adequately trained staff convey professionalism, skill and sharing of information for quality control of produce during provisioning.

Add to all this the inclination to apply new production technologies, the result is a process able to provide excellent safety guarantees for the final product.

Cultivated fields

The goods sold come from eco-friendly farming, where the use of chemical products is restricted to the unavoidable minimum and integrated pest management actions are applied along with optimization of water and energy resources.

Several years ago the company also began marketing organic produce.

Orsini & Damiani offers its customers products in different types of returnable and non-returnable packaging, loose or flow-packed in PVC-free film, netted punnets, trays, cartons, and other options.

Customers are mainly large distribution chains in northern and central Italy, where the reliability of the company has consolidated over time.

Product quality, extreme corporate flexibility, reliability and its good name in the target sector, earned over many years of hard work, make Orsini & Damiani an excellent partner for all operators in the greengrocery system, and a real guarantee for the consumer.

The Earth and its People

We always ask the Earth for its first fruits, and its best vegetables, but at the same time we promise to respect its seasons and the balance of the ecosystem. That is why we only work with skilled, scrupulous Italian farmers, and together we select cultivars that are not genetically modified, and are genuine, tasty, typical products.

Our pact with the Environment…

We require our producers to guarantee complete compliance with regulations on the use of fertilizers, pesticides and natural resources, and our agronomists go out to the field in person to monitor crops on an ongoing basis, providing advice and guidelines, and analysing samples before and after harvest.

All subsequent stages, involving our staff and our facilities, revolving around processing then packaging and final shipping, are subjected to continuous, strict controls regarding traceability of products, hygiene aspects and maintaining standards of freshness and pureness.
